Valve has officially rolled out Steam's Personal Calendar, a feature that recommends new and imminently releasing games based on what you might like. It has been in Steam Labs testing since last year, and it now lives as a widget on the Steam store front page plus a dedicated page of its own.

The calendar covers games released within the past month and those launching over the next month. You can filter what it shows by tags, early access status, and whether something is already on your wishlist. Valve says it refreshes daily and works from your recently played games, finding players with similar playtime habits and looking at what they've been wishlisting or playing.

Nothing on it is hand-curated, and Valve says developers can't buy placement, so the algorithm alone decides what appears. That makes it a big deal for discoverability, since a spot here could put a small game in front of players who would never have scrolled to it. Polygon's early look found some well-known upcoming titles, along with a few lesser-known games like the Early Access-exiting Sulfur, which is exactly the kind of pick the herd tends to appreciate.

Whether players actually use it is the open question. The feature feels more targeted than Steam's Popular New Releases and Popular Upcoming tabs, but it's hard to know how it will hold up for people who don't already track every release.
