No Man's Sky is somehow making the jump to mobile. Hello Games has confirmed the space sim lands on iOS on October 28th, complete with every update the game has shipped since launch, and pre-orders are live today.

The studio says it'll run on hardware as old as the iPhone 11, which is genuinely wild for a game this size. You'll get touch controls, controller support, and even mouse and keyboard, because apparently playing a whole galaxy on your couch wasn't enough options already.

For nearly three years, we've had this little side project. There's something incredible about this universe fitting in your pocket. We want console quality visuals and gameplay that you can play anywhere.

That's Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray, who also admitted the team once figured a mobile port "would never be possible." Part of what changed his mind is Light No Fire, the studio's still-mysterious fantasy survival game. Murray told Polygon that squeezing performance and memory use down for Light No Fire fed straight back into No Man's Sky, since the two now run on one shared engine. He also teased that those engine tweaks will trickle down to PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox versions too.

As for Light No Fire itself, don't hold your breath for details. Murray told Eurogamer he's learned his lesson about talking too soon, so the herd will just have to wait on that one while No Man's Sky quietly colonizes your phone instead.
