Metro 2039 now has a release date and a full set of preorder options: February 4, on PS5, Xbox, and PC. It's the next single-player shooter in the series, dropping you into an irradiated Moscow 25 years after the bombs fell.

The Standard Edition runs $69.99 and gets you the base game, nothing fancier. Step up to the Deluxe Edition ($109.99 physical, $99.99 digital on console, $89.99 on PC) and you add a Story Expansion DLC, a digital soundtrack, and a digital art book, with the physical version throwing in a steelbook case and hardcover art book too. Want to go all the way? GameStop has a $299.99 Collector's Edition with everything from the Deluxe tier plus a wearable replica Spartan helmet.

Preorder any edition and you'll get the Specialist Pack, a set of blueprints for three backpack upgrades: one for crafting weapons faster, one for surviving radioactive zones longer, and one for scrounging up rarer ammo.

Story-wise, this one picks up after Metro Exodus, with Moscow's tunnel-dwelling survivors now under the thumb of a tyrant called Hunter. You play the Stranger, a loner dragged back underground for one very bad day. The herd's got a few months to decide which edition is worth the extra cash, but that helmet is going to be a tough sell to resist.
