Gears of War: E-Day just kicked off Early Access, and The Coalition marked it with a new Launch Gameplay Trailer scored to Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls." If you own the Premium Edition or grabbed the Game Pass Premium Upgrade, you're already in.
Early Access went live worldwide today, October 1, at 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC. Everyone else joins the fight when the game fully launches on October 6, same time slot, on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and via cloud through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW.
Studio head Mike Crump called it a moment "we've been looking forward to for a long time," thanking fans for sticking around for the journey back to Emergence Day.
There's a decent pile of launch extras too: themed apparel drops, a Liquid Death tie-in that unlocks a chainsaw pose, an Emergence Day-branded pizza from Prince Street Pizza, an official art book, and a soundtrack from Adam Lastiwka landing October 6. Oh, and yes, there are Gears-branded controllers if you want your hardware to match your trauma.
Prequels are a tricky pitch since we already know how the story ends, but E-Day betting on dread and atmosphere over spectacle is a smart way to make Emergence Day actually feel like the horror show it's supposed to be.
