Disney has confirmed a new Darkwing Duck series for Disney Plus, giving the caped mallard his own show again after a long stretch on the sidelines.
The premise is a twist. Darkwing has spent 35 years stuck in an alternate world that has never heard of his heroics. A rebellious teen named Duckie, who knows all about his past, drags him back into action. The pair take on Negaduck and Megavolt, and they reunite with Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe.
Mark Hamill voices Drake Mallard and Darkwing, with Seth Rogen as Launchpad, Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn and Lilimar as Duckie. Original creator Tad Stones consulted on the show, and he said he's excited to see Darkwing "getting dangerous again" in a whole new series.
The original series premiered in 1991 and ran for 91 episodes, and the character has popped up since, most recently in the 2017 DuckTales reboot. Disney hasn't announced a release date yet, so the herd will have to wait a little longer for the blue smoke to clear.
