God of War Laufey is no longer heading to February. Sony Santa Monica has moved the game to May 20, 2027, saying it needs more time to make something that lives up to what fans expect.
The original February 16 date was already crowded. Several games have shuffled into early 2027 to get out of the way of GTA 6, and a February slot would have put Laufey right in the middle of that traffic. Pushing it back gives God of War room to breathe and gives smaller games a clearer lane.
The studio also says more details are coming soon. The Game Awards is one possible stage, but a State of Play before the end of the year or in very early 2027 is just as likely. Also worth noting: the collector's box announced for the February date doesn't include the game, so it's unclear whether that merch gets moved too.
